The Sound of Thousands of Cicadas

This is what us folks in the Southern US have to listen to every 13 years. This is the sound of thousands of cicadas on the trees in the woods behind my house.

Note: This year, Brood XIX (a.k.a. "The Great Southern Brood") has emerged, which is the largest brood of 13-year cicadas. This is why this year has more widespread cicadas and is much more noticeable than previous years.

More information about the 13-year cicadas can be found here: http://reut.rs/jkycnA
